Former White House Chief of Staff to speak at SMU

Former White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card and his wife, the Rev. Kathleene Card, will be guest speakers at this year鈥檚 Bolin Family Public Life-Personal Faith Colloquium, Luncheon and Lecture.

Sponsored by SMU’s Perkins School of Theology, the event will be on Friday, Feb. 6.

The couple will discuss “staying grounded while rubbing shoulders in the halls of power,” says Rev. Card, a United Methodist Church elder who is on the Board of Governors of Wesley Seminary in Washington, D.C. Her husband, “Andy,” is the second-longest tenured White House Chief of Staff, having served President George W. Bush from 2001-2006 and in senior roles for two other U.S. presidents. He is now president of Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire.

The informal Q&A-style Colloquium, free and open to the public, will be 10 to 11 a.m. in the Great Hall of Elizabeth Perkins Prothro Hall, 5901 Bishop Boulevard, on the . 

Reservations are required for the fundraising Luncheon and Lecture from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the SMU’s Martha Proctor Mack Grand Ballroom, Umphrey Lee Center, 3300 Dyer St. Tickets to that event are $150 per person ($85 of which counts as a charitable contribution) and sponsored tables are available.
