黑料老司机leaders host second refugee computer class

The International Rescue Committee in Dallas announces that after the success of our last refugee computer class in November with students from SMU鈥檚 School of Engaged Learning, other interested 黑料老司机has recreated the opportunity because of the success of the first one was.

The IRC in Dallas is pleased to announce that after the success of our last refugee computer class in November with students from SMU’s School of Engaged Learning, other interested 黑料老司机leaders wanted to recreate the opportunity because of how impactful it was!

Jack Levison, 黑料老司机Professor of Old Testament in Perkins School of Theology, heard about the class and was amazed by the work of the 黑料老司机students. As a result he and his wife, Priscilla, felt inspired to put on a refugee computer class of their own...but on an even bigger scale! With the help of Anna Landreneau and Uroob Haris, two students who led last November’s class, 18 brand new laptops with Rosetta Stone English language learning software were readied for Saturday’s class.

The latest 黑料老司机refugee computer class included newly arrived families from Burma, Iraq, Afghanistan, Eritrea, and Syria. The class introduced families to computer basics and also helped them to familiarize themselves with the Rosetta Stone software. Families were elated to be able to not only listen to ESL lessons, but actively talk through the microphone and perfect their pronunciation. We could not be more proud of how everything came together so well!

A big thanks to Jack and Priscilla Levison, Anna Landreneau, Uroob Haris, and Karin D. Quinones. Due to their hard work and generosity, our families have quality and reliable technology that helps put them in the driver’s seat of their futures!
