Parking and Transportation Information for Students

Located in the center of Dallas, the ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»úcampus is often congested, making commuting and parking challenging. To make the campus as accessible as possible, ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»úprovides a variety of parking and alternative transportation optionsso feel free to leave your car at home.

Understanding your options will make campus access easier, and following the parking regulations will promote safety. 

Please noteStudent parking registration opens in July for the 2024-25 academic year via SMU’s online 

Students must relocate their vehicle to designated locations for home football games.  

 

Parking on Campus

Parking Map ExampleTo park on campus, students need a valid ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»úParking Permit. Your parking permit is conveniently tied to your vehicle's license plate, and you must park in your designated area. Parking in an employee or visitor parking will result in a citation. Students can purchase virtual parking permits online through Parking Portal Account, which is good for the academic year. A Fall only and a Spring options is also available.

You can avoid the stress and cost of parking on campus by using one of our many alternatives, including renting a car by the hour.


  • Ride for free between SMU, Mockingbird station and multiple stops along Greenville Ave.
    Commuting to campus? Park for free at Mockingbird Station and take the shuttle to campus.  

  • No car? No problem. Looking to run errands, grab groceries, or catch a show in Fort Worth? Zip card lets you rend a car by the hour or by the day.
  • ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»úDART GoPass
    Students can enjoy use of DART, the Dallas bus and rail line, at no charge with their DART GoPass.
