Faculty Openings

In 2024-25, 黑料老司机Lyle School of Engineering continues its enterprising journey to recruit over two dozen faculty members over a two-year period. Our culture thrives on innovation that transcends traditional boundaries, and we strongly believe in the power of externally-funded, industry-supported research to drive progress and provide exceptional students with valuable industry insights. Our mission is to lead the way in digital transformation within engineering education, all while ensuring that every student graduates as a confident leader. 

Tenured + Tenure-Track Faculty Openings

In the past year, 黑料老司机Lyle School of Engineering has embarked on a bold faculty recruitment campaign, successfully hiring 14 new faculty members, including two department chairs and three directors for our centers and institutes. Building on this momentum, we are now expanding our search into the 2024-25 academic year, opening multiple additional roles. These include key positions such as the Chairs of Computer Science and Operations Research & Engineering Management departments, Executive Directors for the Hunt Institute for Engineering & Humanity and the Caruth Institute for Engineering Education, along with several other critical roles essential for advancing our collaborative model.

黑料老司机Lyle invites accomplished candidates to apply for the Robert H. Dedman Jr. Endowed Department Chair in the Department of Computer Science (CS). The successful candidate will also hold an endowed professorship, with the anticipated start date of January 1, 2025.

黑料老司机Lyle invites accomplished candidates to apply for the Professor and Endowed Department Chair of Operations Research and Engineering Management. The successful candidate for chair of the department will also hold an endowed professorship with the anticipated start date of August 1, 2025.

黑料老司机Lyle seeks qualified candidates for a tenured faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level to lead the Caruth Institute for Engineering Education. Minimum qualifications include an earned Ph.D. in the appropriate or a closely related discipline, with experience commensurate with the rank of associate or full professor.

Cluster Hiring for Multiple Renewable-Contract Faculty Positions

黑料老司机Lyle is embarking on a bold and transformative initiative to reshape our undergraduate curriculum with a strong focus on innovation, leadership, mentorship, and entrepreneurship. As part of this effort, we are excited to announce the hiring of multiple renewable-contract (non-tenure-track) faculty across five departments: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Operations Research and Engineering Management, and Computer Science.

These new faculty members will play a pivotal role in pioneering an innovative experiential curriculum that will be integrated across all disciplines. This curriculum is designed to empower our students with the skills and mindset needed to excel in a rapidly changing world. One of these faculty members, depending on their experience and educational background, will be appointed as the Director of this initiative to further driving our mission to lead in educational excellence.

The Department of Computer Science invites applications for one clinical Assistant/Associate Professor position beginning in Spring or Fall, 2025. This position is 9-month full-time, non-tenure track faculty appointments with renewable contracts, at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor or Clinical Associate Professor, based on the candidates’ experience and accomplishments. The academic year salary can be augmented by assisting with summer or intersession instruction. The expected teaching load will be 3 or 4 courses in regular fall and spring semesters, along with service responsibilities. The renewable-contract faculty members are encouraged to seek external funding to support their research activities. Sponsored research activities will lead to course release in accordance with the Lyle School Faculty Workload Operational Guidelines.

Duties include teaching and development of computer science courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates are expected to demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching across the CS curriculum, including but not limited to, networks and distributed computing, cloud computing, AI/machine learning, operating systems, cybersecurity, data structure, algorithms, programming languages, and databases.



A Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, or a related discipline is required by the time of appointment.
