黑料老司机Lyle School of Engineering is pleased to announce that Dr. Reza Moghimi has joined our faculty as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, effective August 1, 2024. Dr. Moghimi's appointment marks a continuation of his journey at SMU, where he earned his Ph.D. in 2021 and has since been contributing significantly to both research and education in the field of civil engineering. Dr. Moghimi's research focuses on structural dynamics and seismic protection of structures, with a specialization in damping and isolation systems. His work on “Response Modification of Structures with Supplemental Rotational Inertia” provides critical insights into the impact of incorporating inverters on structural response to seismic forces. This research is paving the way for more effective seismic design strategies, enhancing the resilience and safety of structures in earthquake-prone regions. Dr. Moghimi’s contributions are invaluable in advancing the field of earthquake engineering and improving the structural integrity of buildings and infrastructure in seismic zones. In addition to his research, Dr. Moghimi is deeply committed to education and mentoring the next generation of civil engineers. He has taught a wide range of courses across the civil engineering curriculum at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
