Two of ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»úMeadows’ programs have recently been recognized as some of the best programs in the nation in their respective areas of study. Both the Division of Advertising’s Temerlin Advertising Institute (TAI) and the Division of Film & Media Arts have been ranked highly by respected sources in 2024.

ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»úhas been ranked the #8 in the country in a recent ranking of the top 30  by College Transitions, a website devoted to offering college-related guidance that attracts nearly 1M visitors per month. The organization highlighted the impressive employment rate for recent graduates of the program, with 66% having secured a job before graduation and over 90% being employed within six months of graduating. TAI was also included among the top programs in College Transitions’ annual college guide, Colleges Worth Your Money, which highlights 200 selective institutions that offer an outstanding undergraduate education and excellent return on investment.

“This ranking is testament to the high quality and enduring value of our advertising program, and it is an honor to be included alongside the other top national universities on this list,” says Joe Phua, Endowed Distinguished Chair and Director of Temerlin Advertising Institute. “As the premier institution for advertising education and research in the DFW metroplex, a Top 5 media market, we will continue to leverage our strengths and location to train the next generation of advertising leaders.”

Over the years, TAI has built a robust alumni network and the award-winning faculty and students continue to receive accolades from top academic and industry organizations, like College Transitions.

Earlier this semester, ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»úwas also ranked one of the in the country for 2024 by TheWrap, a digital news organization covering the business of entertainment and media. Ranked at #17 in the nation, beating out schools like Stanford University and the University of Pennsylvania, TheWrap highlights SMU’s Summer Film Production program which allows students to produce, write, direct and crew a feature film every two years.

“I was happy to see the program get recognized in this way,” says the Chair of Film & Media Arts, Mark Kerins. “It's particularly impressive given that [TheWrap’s] methodology explicitly gives more points to film programs in or near Los Angeles or New York City, and to those that have both graduate AND undergrad programs. To make it into the top 20 in that type of framework, with no graduate program and being in the middle of the country, speaks to just how strong and unique our undergraduate program is.”

TheWrap also applauded how the program’s courses capture the full spectrum of filmmaking today — offering classes not just focusing on features and TV, but also advertising, web, social media and documentary — and the fact that virtually all students get financial aid packages that average more than half the $59K cost of tuition.
