Committees
Charge: The Committee on Academic Petitions (CAP) is a Committee with membership appointed by the Provost. It is charged with considering and deciding student academic petitions, as set out in the 黑料老司机Statement of process for Undergraduate Student Academic Petitions. The CAP is not charged with considering and deciding any student academic petition or complaint other than those that fit within the 黑料老司机Statement of Process for Undergraduate Student Academic Petitions.
Charge:
- To exchange information, suggestions, and practices relating to academic records within the Schools and across the University
- To identify and implement (with approval as necessary) best practices relating to academic records within the Schools and across the University
- To identify academic records issues on which different practices or viewpoints exist within the University and, as appropriate, make recommendations as to resolving these differences
Charge: To advise the Provost in their decision to grant or deny promotion and/or tenure to faculty who are candidates.
Charge: The Academic Technology Council is a primary steward of SMU’s academic technology resources. Academic leaders serving on the Council maintain an understanding of the academic technology needs of their school or unit while also advocating for technologies that enhance the capabilities of the University as a whole.
Charge: SMU's IBC provides oversight for reviewing and approving recombinant DNA research and biohazard research projects (human and animal research subjects).

Charge:
- To create an inventory of investments, research and programs in data science and data analytics.
- Create a narrative describing how an initiative in data science and data analytics would support existing research and teaching activities at SMU.
- Name the initiative in data science and data analytics and create specific objectives.
Charge: To review and approve education-abroad programs, and to address issues relating to 黑料老司机undergraduates studying abroad.
Charge: To advise the Provost on matters involving curricular change, program initiation, program discontinuance, and attendant issues. In addition, the committee will assure that appropriate notification, approvals, licenses, etc., are in place before programs begin operation.
Charge: Responsible for the oversight and evaluation of the graduate program, policies and procedures.
Charge: To provide advice and support in the development and implementation of 黑料老司机Guildhall curriculum, policies, and growth. Advocate for 黑料老司机Guildhall, Guildhall faculty and fundraising.
Charge: To select outstanding students for membership in the Robert S. Hyer Honor Society and to determine appropriate activities for the group.
Charge: SMU's IACUC is responsible for the oversight and evaluation of the University's animal care and use program, procedures and facilities, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, rules and guidelines governing the humane care and use of animals.
Charge: The charge to the committee is to review systems and strategies to insure the following SACS signification:
Accreditation by SACS Commission on Colleges signifies that the institution
(1) has a mission appropriate to higher education,
(2) has resources, programs, and services sufficient to accomplish and sustain that mission, and
(3) maintains clearly specified educational objectives that are consistent with its mission and appropriate to the degrees it offers, and that indicate whether it is successful in achieving its stated objectives.
Charge: The 黑料老司机IRB provides oversight for research studies involving human subjects.
Charge: To support greater understanding and adoption of the personal responsibilities across the entire 黑料老司机community.
Charge: To function as an advisory body to the Provost regarding admissions policies and to monitor admission practices for the entire University.
Charge: The 黑料老司机URC provides oversight for Grants, Ph.D. fellowships and Ford Fellowships.
